Dr. Alexander Mirtchev, president and founder of the Krull Corporation, today congratulated former Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) on his appointment as Chairman of the Atlantic Council. Senator Hagel, who served two terms representing Nebraska from 1997 to 2009, succeeds General James L. Jones, who stepped down to serve as National Security Advisor to President Barack Obama.
Dr. Mirtchev also is a member of the Strategic Advisors Group with The Atlantic Council and serves as a senior advisor to the council's president.
"With Senator Hagel at the helm, The Atlantic Council will continue to grow and build upon the impressive track record laid by General Jones," said Dr. Mirtchev. "Senator Hagel's tremendous foreign policy background and leadership capabilities are needed in the global discourse with such complex challenges facing the world in these times. I am honored to serve an organization with such impressive leadership."
Dr. Mirtchev will serve the council by advising President Fred Kempe and becoming a member of the Strategic Advisors Group, where he will work to raise the profile and level of debate in the transatlantic community on issues of security and defense. Through his breadth of experience in foreign policy and global business, Dr. Mirtchev will work with President Kempe on strategic emerging issues and fostering stronger transatlantic relations.
